IRRIV Fellowship Program

For more than 10 years, Italian and foreign Doctors, Engineers, Biologists have been honoring with their presence the Vicenza Nephrology, Dialysis and Renal Transplantation Department and they have shared research and multidisciplinary formation experiences. Visiting professors, researchers, healthcare assistants and workers from several fields, from all around the World, come to take conferences or to spend short pre-arranged visits, whereas young graduated people from different countries and continents spend prolonged stage periods, while dealing with specific research projects.
These visitors, both researchers and doctors, named “Fellows” using an anglosaxon term, stay in Vicenza for 6 months, 1 year or for longer periods supported by the scholarships obtained from their own countries or International Scientific Institutes.

The Department has always offered different fellowship programs: Educational, Visiting and Research Fellowship, in Bioengineering, Critical Nephrology (the Vicenza model), Healthcare Economy, Applied Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology and Renal Genetics.

On the other hand, in some situations it is exactly the Associazione Amici del Rene di Vicenza onlus to contribute to the creation of some scholarships or to finance specific projects.  Fellows accepted into the program are expected to perform research, and will spend the majority of their time on research. Fellows will be involved with all aspects of the Departments of Nephrology (Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis and Transplants) and Intensive Care Unit (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and others), interacting xwith the medical staff. Fellows are expected to actively participate in various research projects and epidemiological studies which are currently underway as well as those yet to commence.
